Strong Community Response to Coronavirus
Trustees Update
APRIL HW NEWS
Letter from Chairman
The situation regarding Coronavirus has been developing at a very fast pace and your community has been working together to offer support by setting up local initiatives to assist those members of our community who are self-isolating or who are vulnerable.

In addition, the Hadley Wood Association, Neighbourhood Watch, Hadley Wood Security, Hadley Wood WI, St Paul’s Church and the Synagogue have been in touch with their members and congregation to make sure that everyone who needs support, has support.

What are these initiatives and how can you help or get in touch for assistance?

Hadley Wood Corona Support & Volunteers - text or call to join on 07398 081 575
This is a WhatsApp group which aims to quickly reach out as a notice board for the Hadley Wood community.  Please sign up if you are able to volunteer to help residents, or if you are a vulnerable member of our community.  Say, for example, you need urgent assistance as a vulnerable resident, you could message “I need assistance from a volunteer – please message/call me directly”; a volunteer will post “accepted” so everyone knows it has been actioned, the volunteer will call and you can explain your needs privately.  If you have already volunteered your help via NHW and are happy to also be added to this group (which includes non-NHW residents) please let us know.

Hadley Wood Association (HWA) 07398 081 575 / 020 8449 7193; hadley.woodassoc@btconnect.com
Please call (weekdays between 9 am – midday) or email if you are self-isolating or vulnerable - we can arrange to post your mail, bring you urgent supplies or just have a friendly phone chat.  Are you aware of households who need help? Please let us know.  Please reach out.
For those of you who don’t know, the HWA is your resident’s association, championing local issues (security, planning forum, Treegate etc.), protecting 27 acres of open space, managing your community HWA Centre and producing and delivering the Hadley Wood News.

Hadley Wood Security (HWS) – covering all of Hadley Wood
Membership Enquiries: 0785 363 7095; keepmesafe@hadleywoodsecurity.com
For HWS members only: provides 24-hour, 7 day a week security protection for you and your family and a “meet and greet” service.  Discounted home insurance.  All cars carry a defibrillator which security drivers are trained in using, as well as first aid and firefighting equipment.  Currently extending their services to provide extra support to members who need it during this difficult time.  Do call or email to join.

Neighbourhood Watch (NHW)  hadleywoodwatch@gmail.com
The NHW communicates (via WhatsApp, telephone, email, text) to and allows communication between residents on a street by street basis, to promote safety and assist with the detection of crime amongst neighbours.  Helps to bring communities together. The NHW have lifted the use of ‘crime-only matters’ on their WhatsApp group to include support of neighbours during this difficult time.

St Paul’s Church
Please contact Rupert Mackay on 020 8449 2572 or 07525 661 616 should you require any practical or pastoral support at this time; the church family continues to be alive and active, but our buildings are now closed.

Hadley Wood Jewish Community
Please contact Rabbi Yoni Birnbaum for practical or pastoral support on 07905 964 207.

Londis
Excellent local shop supporting the HWA and our residents.  If you need assisted delivery of your shopping because you are vulnerable or self-isolating, please DO NOT contact Londis directly.  Instead, please contact either the HWA, HW Corona Support & Volunteers group or your NHW.  We will liaise with you directly to arrange what you need, when you need it, payment and delivery.

Please check the Coronavirus service if suffering symptoms at 111.nhs.uk and check www.gov.uk for up to date Government guidelines
